The non-partisan election of city officials shall be conducted in all respects as provided by the laws of Kansas governing the holding of city elections.

At all city elections the polls shall be open at 7:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m., unless different hours are set and publicly announced by the county election officer.

A general election of members of the Governing Body shall take place on the Tuesday succeeding the first Monday in November of odd numbered years for all positions whose terms are expiring. All elections for the City of Frontenac, Kansas shall be non-partisan. The Mayor shall serve a two (2) year term and shall be elected at-large. City Council members shall serve staggered four (4) year terms. The Mayor shall, at the time of election, be a qualified elector and an actual resident of the city. City Council Members shall, at the time of election, be qualified electors and actual residents of the ward from which elected. No ordinance redefining wards shall become effective less than ninety (90) days prior to the next regular city election.

The term of office for all elected officials shall commence on the first regularly scheduled city council meeting in December following certification of the election to the city by the county board of canvassers.

Any person desiring to become a candidate for elected city office shall file with the County Election Officer, before June 1st, a declaration of candidacy on a form furnished by the County Election Officer as specified by the Secretary of State. If candidacy is filed via nomination petition, the petition must be signed by at least five percent (5%) of the qualified electors in the corresponding ward for a Council Seat, or of all qualified electors for the position of Mayor of the City of Frontenac.

The City of Frontenac, Kansas is divided into four (4) Wards, each Ward comprising the following described territory:

Ward No. 1 shall consist of all the territory lying within the city limits south of McKay Street and east of a line which begins at the intersection of McKay Street and Jefferson Street running south to the intersection of Jefferson Street and Leighton Street, then west to the intersection of Leighton Street and Mt. Carmel Road, and then south to the city limits ending at Atkinson Ave.

Ward No. 2 shall consist of all the territory lying within the city limits south of McKay Street and west of a line which begins at the intersection of McKay Street and Jefferson Street running south to the intersection of Jefferson Street and Leighton Street, then west to the intersection of Leighton Street and Mt. Carmel Road, and then south to the city limits ending at Atkinson Ave.

Ward No. 3 shall consist of all the territory lying within the city limits north of McKay Street and west of a line which begins at the intersection of McKay Street and Crawford Street running north to the intersection of Crawford Street and Creager Street, then east to the intersection of Creager Street and Linn Street, then north to the intersection of Linn Street and Ginardi Street, then west to the intersection of Ginardi Street and Crawford Street, then north to the intersection of Crawford Street and North County Road, then west to the west border Klausers subdivision according to the recorded plat thereof, then north to the city limits ending at Mary Street.

Ward No. 4 shall consist of all the territory lying within the city limits north of McKay Street and east of a line which begins at the intersection of McKay Street and Crawford Street running north to the intersection of Crawford Street and Creager Street, then east to the intersection of Creager Street and Linn Street, then north to the intersection of Linn Street and Ginardi Street, then west to the intersection of Ginardi Street and Crawford Street, then north to the intersection of Crawford Street and North County Road, then west to the west border of Klausers subdivision according to the recorded plat thereof, then north to the city limits ending at Mary Street..
